Testimony: Elegy Released Today

Respected Friends,
This is Afreen Bakshi, writing for official blog of Mirza Sharafat Hussain Beigh. As, today we have released a much awaited elegy in poetic style composed by Mirza Sharafat Hussain Beigh on Amazon.
The book will be soon launched on Amazon market place and you may purchase it for just 3$.

Book is named Testimony. Covering briefly all the tragedies that befell Prophet's Households in Karbala around some 1400 years back. Sharafat has composed the elegy in a narrative poetic style, however prosody has been ignored.
Testimony is first elegy of it's kind, which does not translate earlier elegies. "Testimony has been written for Non-Shiite readers who don't know much about Battle of Karbala" says author Mirza Sharafat Hussain Beigh. "I have chosen easy to understand words and cogent arguments to convince readers, while keeping up all the factual details as they are" he adds.

Mirza Sharafat has written the English elegy, which walks all the way round in Battle field. Despite, elegy starts with his own motivation, as how his journey begun, and how he picked the pen lying on windowsill and started composing something extraordinary than words. From Chapter II, Elegy describes Husayn's reason of visiting Karbala and then his confinement, following scenes from battle. He has used figurative language, which creates substantial imagery of stanzas beyond words. Chapters end when water is blocked and households of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) remain thirsty and baby accompanying Husayn is not suckled. Bidding farewell to Hazrat Ali Akbar and Zuljanah's reception at tents is all mentioned. Abbas who has been introduced as tritagonist and his amputation of Arms at Furaat is highly recommended to read.

The book is sold online on Amazon, and free trial copies are served this Muharram to mourners of Imam Husayn free of cost.
Sharafat created sadness for mourners when they red such a heart rending account in English. This was shortly followed by Agha Shahid Ali's fan page, they just an hour later posted a stanza from Testimony after a trial copy was shared with them.
Mirza Sharafat Hussain is a 4th generation reciter and writer of elegies descending from Mirza Beigh family, who is ancestrally privileged and holds the position of central reciter of Grand Muharram Procession in Srinagar Kashmir.
